At Fresh From Farms, we believe farming is about nurturing life step by step. Organic capsicum, also known as bell pepper, is one of the most rewarding crops to grow. Here’s how our plants developed over 45 days, with photos from our greenhouse. And the journey goes on-
Day 1 – Seeding Begins
On the very first day, we prepared the soil carefully inside our greenhouse. The soil was tilled, furrows were made for irrigation, and the environment was protected with netting to keep pests away. Organic capsicum seeds were sown in neat rows, each one carrying the promise of fresh harvests in the months ahead.
This stage is all about patience. Seeds need warmth, moisture, and protection. Farmers often say: “The seed is the beginning of hope.”

Day 20 – Seedlings Take Shape
Just 20 days later, the greenhouse was alive with young seedlings. Tiny shoots emerged, their green and reddish leaves reaching for sunlight. At this stage, the organic capsicum plants are delicate and require careful watering.
We monitored soil moisture daily, ensuring it was neither too dry nor waterlogged. Capsicum seedlings are sensitive — too much water can cause root rot, while too little can stunt growth.
Tips for growers at this stage:
- Water lightly but regularly.
- Provide indirect sunlight or controlled greenhouse light.
- Thin out overcrowded seedlings to give each plant space.

Day 45 – Vigorous Growth, Preparing for Transplant
By Day 45, the organic capsicum plants are strong and healthy, with sturdy stems and broad leaves. The greenhouse has given them protection and controlled conditions, but now they are reaching the stage where they need more space and natural sunlight.
This is the pre‑transplant stage. The plants are not yet ready for the open fields, but in about 10 more days they will be strong enough to handle outdoor conditions.
Transplanting is a critical step — it gives the organic capsicum plants more space, direct sunlight, and the natural environment they need to thrive. Once moved into the fields, they will continue to grow steadily, eventually leading to a healthy harvest.

Organic Capsicum Farming – Day 55 Update: Plantation Stage
By Day 55, our capsicum plants have moved into a crucial phase of growth. The seedlings, which were carefully nurtured in the nursery, are now strong enough to be transplanted into the main field. This stage marks the beginning of their journey in the real conditions on the fields for upcoming growth before the fruiting stage.

🌱 Transplantation Process
Soil Preparation: The field was ploughed and enriched with organic compost to ensure a nutrient-rich base.
Spacing: Each plant was placed at a distance of 1.5 to 2 feet, allowing enough room for healthy canopy development and airflow.
Planting: Seedlings were gently uprooted from the nursery trays and transplanted into the field during the cooler hours of the day to reduce stress, especially in the evening.
Irrigation: Light watering was done immediately after planting to help the roots settle. Care is taken to avoid waterlogging, as capsicum plants are sensitive to excess moisture.

🌿 Why Document Growth Stages?
Tracking growth stages helps farmers and gardeners:
- Understand plant needs at each stage.
- Adjust watering, nutrients, and protection.
- Celebrate the progress of sustainable farming.
At Fresh From Farms, we share these updates to inspire others to try organic farming. Farming is not just about harvest — it’s about nurturing life, observing changes, and learning patience.
We'll share the fruiting stage as well in the near future. Till then, Peace Out!
Q1. How long does organic capsicum take to grow?
Organic capsicum plants typically take 90–100 days from seeding to harvest, depending on conditions and care.
Q2. When should organic capsicum seedlings be transplanted?
Organic capsicum seedlings are usually transplanted into open fields around 55 days after seeding, once they are strong enough to withstand outdoor conditions.
Q3. What is the best way to care for organic capsicum seedlings?
Provide regular watering without waterlogging, add organic compost or vermicompost to enrich the soil, monitor for pests like aphids or whiteflies, and gradually expose seedlings to outdoor conditions before transplanting.
